10 Tips For a Cosy Holiday Home

20 April 2017

Family at restaurant

Whether you own one or are just staying for the weekend, our holiday lodges are a great way to take a holiday that feels like a home away from home.

You can enjoy all the excitement of getting away for a change of scenery, but with all the home comforts you are used to and excellent on-site facilities such as heated pools and restaurants, which all makes for a truly relaxing break!

So what are some things you can do to make sure your lodge becomes a cosy holiday home? Here are our ten top tips!

Unpack

Living out of a suitcase always feels like you’re not staying long, and doesn’t really allow you to relax, so as soon as you arrive, unpack all your belongings, hang up your clothes, and get organised!

Bring your favourite scent

If you have a favourite scented candle or diffuser that you use at home, bring it along with you so that you can make your holiday lodge smell just like your house does. Nothing is better for making you feel at home than scents which are familiar!

Bring your comforts

If you have a favourite blanket that you always curl up with in the evenings at home, pack it to bring with you to your lodge. You’ll feel much more comfortable having it with you and it will allow you to truly relax!

If you have children, make sure you bring their favourite blankets, stuffed animals, and whatever else they need for comfort.

Pack your pyjamas

If you have a favourite pair of pyjamas, don’t leave them at home! Also bring any of the children’s pyjamas that they enjoy wearing the most.

Bring bedding

Bringing bedding from home will definitely make you feel at home. Similar to bringing your favourite candles, the scent of your regular bedding to crawl into at the end of the day will definitely feel familiar!

Bring your pillows

Something that people often don’t think about is how important having the right pillow is to getting a good night’s sleep! Don’t risk struggling to get to sleep, and bring your regular pillows from home.

Bring your favourite drinks

Whether you can’t live without a certain type of tea in the mornings, or you like to relax with a glass of wine in the evenings, bring a supply of your favourite brands with you.

Bring pets

It’s worth checking whether you can bring your four-legged friends with you, as some of our parks are pet-friendly! You’ll feel much more at home if you have the whole family there with you, including the furry members! Check out our guide to settling your pets into a holiday home here.

Make a playlist

Since you’re bringing your favourite things with you, why not bring your favourite music with you too? Make a playlist of your favourite feel-good tunes to play while you’re away, and while you’re travelling down too!

Stock the cupboards

Even if you’re only going to be staying for a short while, be sure to stock up your kitchen cupboards in your lodge! You may be making the most of enjoying eating in the restaurant or heading out to try the local eateries (as one of the perks of being on holiday is not having to cook for yourself), but having some basics in is a good idea.

Bring plenty of snacks, or everything you need to make breakfast in your lodge in the mornings, and stock up on some essentials so that you don’t have to leave the lodge every time you need to eat!
