Staff at Tydd St Giles Golf and Country Club, near Wisbech are this week celebrating confirmation of a triple success for 2013 – Tourism Business of the Year – judged at the Annual Fenland Business Awards.
Beating off competition from Peckover House, Fossils Galore and Little Ranch Leisure in the final stages was no easy task particularly as this was the first occasion that the Club had entered the Annual Awards.
An in depth submission detailing the history, customer profile, customer spend and the onsite facilities available at the Golf and Country Club was followed with a judges visit by Gill Pragnell and Peter Watts of Cambridgeshire Chamber of Trade.
Both judges were so impressed that they declared a holiday break at Tydd St Giles was now top of their “To Do” list!
Adrian Hurst, Business Director spoke with pride about this latest award. “It makes all the hard work worthwhile and is an important step for Tydd St Giles Golf and Country Club as we strive to be the best at what we do. Originally conceived 18 years ago the golf club has moved on in leaps and bounds in recent years with the addition of Holiday Lodges and Country Homes and earlier this year a £2m Leisure and Fitness Suite”
“Guests can choose from a day’s golf, a holiday break or a even a lifetime of holidays if they purchase a Holiday Lodge”
This is the first year Tydd St Giles have entered the Annual Fenland Business Awards and in addition to winning Tourism Business of the Year, Adrian also landed second place for Business Person of the Year 2013.
Earlier this year the Golf and Country Club was given 5 Star rating by Visit England’s Quality in Tourism Assessors and Gold status in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards – both at the first time of entry.
