Norfolk

Autumn is a fantastic time to visit Tydd St Giles holiday park on the border between Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, with the leaves turning brown and new wildlife migrating to the area for the season, just make sure that you wrap up warm!

There are lots of great things going on in Norfolk this Autumn that you might want to check out during your stay and here are just some of our favourites.

Cromer Pier Show – Until September 21st

Situated at the end of Cromer’s 151-metre long pier you’ll find the Pavilion Theatre. One of only five end-of-pier theatres in the country and home to the Cromer Pier Show.

The theatre plays host to this traditional variety show every year. It brings together performers in fields such as comedy, magic, music and dance for a magical theatre experience.

In its 42 years, the show has played host to several well-known entertainers. Including Darren Day, names from Britain’s Got Talent and Bradley Walsh who once claimed that he owed his career to a “‘wonderful theatre on the end of a pier in Cromer”.

Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival – September 7th-8th

This festival brings together classic maritime vessels alongside more modern craft to Great Yarmouth’s South Quay for you to explore for free. Along with other events including shanty folk music, street arts and exhibitions to check out over the weekend.

Out There Festival – September 14th-15th

This festival brings the best in street arts and circus entertainment to Great Yarmouth for the weekend. Including acrobatics, dance, juggling, theatre, comedy, circus acts and more.

The festival has built up quite the reputation for its diverse programme, with over 50,000 people attending throughout the weekend.

Best of all, almost everything at the festival is free! So it makes for a fantastic day out while you’re staying in the local area.

Oktoberfest Norwich – October 11th-12th

Norwich is home to area’s largest Oktoberfest celebrations. Bringing an authentic Bavarian Bierkeller to the city centre, with the best in German food & drink including Bavarian bratwurst and entertainment from the UK’s premier Bavarian Oompah band, the Bavarian Strollers.

These events are hugely popular and a lot of fun if you fancy a drink and a good time during your stay in Norfolk!

Apple Day at Gressenhall Farm – October 13th

One of the area’s more unique autumn events is the annual Apple Day at Gressenhall Farm, celebrating all things to do with, you guessed it… apples!

With tastings of fresh apple juice and cider and stalls selling all manner of local produce. You can also walk through the apple orchard to see the traditional Norfolk varieties of apple. All being grown by local craftsmen practising traditional skills and techniques.

Norwich Science Festival – October 18th-26th

October half-term sees nine days worth of incredible science-based exhibitions, shows and activities. Designed for the whole family to enjoy, at the Norwich Science Festival.

From the wide reaches of outer space to the bugs that crawl amongst the ground below us, the festival is a celebration of all things science. There’s a range of kid-friendly, as well as more serious, adult-oriented events happening throughout the week. Both at the Forum and other venues across the city.

Thursford Christmas Spectacular – November 6th-December 23rd

Late Autumn means only one thing… Christmas is just around the corner! Even if you think it’s a little too early to be getting into the festive spirit, it’s well worth heading to Thursford for this event. It is the biggest Christmas show in the country outside of London. With a cast of over 120 people bringing together song, dance, comedy and more.

The show draws over 100,000 people each year to the museum. It’s estimated about 5.7 million people have visited over the years. Which means tickets often sell out in advance so be sure to check availability.

These are just some of the events taking place in Norfolk this autumn, but be sure to head to Visit Norfolk for a more comprehensive rundown of all the great things going on in the county during your stay here at our Norfolk holiday park.
