After a tough year or so in lockdown we’re finally emerging into summer. Dig out your wellies, cut off shorts and face paints and head out to some amazing local festivals, or take it easy at some more sedate events in the open spaces around Penrith. We’ve selected a few to help you slip back into normality.
Great British Food Festival
3rd & 4th July 2021
The Great British Food Festival combines the nation’s love of great food and drink with some of the country’s most treasured locations, allowing you to explore new flavours and beautiful venues.
Lowther Castle will make its debut this year taking some of the finest local and regional producers. There will be hot food, real ale and wine bars, craft and gift stalls and children’s entertainment. Top chefs will demo skills and there will be cake competitions all accompanied by excellent live music. It’s a great day out for the foody families.
Potfest in the Park
23rd-25th July 2021
Potfest in the Park is a charming ceramics festival set in front of the magnificent Hutton-in-the-Forest. 100 exhibitors from across Europe and beyond will be exhibiting. Hutton-in-the-Forest, home to Lord & Lady Inglewood, is in itself a cultural destination with a walled garden, topiary terraces and woodland walks.
The theme this year is Time & Reflection.
Entry: £8 for adults.
Wannasee Penrith
27th to 29th August 2021
With the very finest tributes to the world’s greatest artists, from the 50’s to the present day, Wannasee Penrith will have you singing along to non-stop classics, all weekend long. With the best tributes to Queen, Adele, U2, Elvis and many more it’s like the soundtrack to your life!
The Winter Droving – Penrith

Perhaps the most important event in the region is The Winter Droving which toasts change in seasons our rural heritage. It’s a completely out-of-the-ordinary town takeover by Eden Arts.
Each year, Penrith is transformed for one magical day into a spectacular wonderland of outdoor arts, music, mayhem, fire and masquerade with an always-impressive line-up of performance on stages and streets across the town.
While the details of the 2021’s Winter Droving are secret, it is really one of the best Festivals in Penrith.
