19 July 2019

Vegan eating

If you’re vegan, or even if you just have friends or family who are, it’s always handy to know where the best vegan-friendly spots to eat are. That way you can make sure you have somewhere to head to that caters for everybody once you fancy a bite to eat.

While most restaurants have a vegan option on the menu these days, the choice isn’t always overwhelming. So we thought we’d do a quick roundup of some of the best options for great vegan food around Yorkshire.

Make No Bones – Sheffield

Make No Bones is a popular restaurant in Sheffield. Serving up vegan versions of all your favourite fast food dishes from burgers to ribs. And while they contain absolutely no meat or dairy, they’re just as delicious and indulgent as the real deal. There are healthier options available too, such as salads and poke bowls or delicious desserts like vegan cheesecake.

Food is served seven days a week, and they have a brunch club every weekend between 10am and 11.30am. Then you can indulge in a hangover-curing vegan full English, or a vegan version of a sausage and egg McMuffin.

Kids are welcome too, and they have a dedicated kids menu that serves up everything the little ones would expect, from nuggets to ice cream.

Humblest of Pleasures – Hebden Bridge

This 100% vegan and cruelty-free restaurant in Hebden Bridge is open Tuesday to Saturday for their usual menu, and on Sundays for all-day breakfast.

They recently launched their new menu, which features a Korean-style BBQ cauliflower burger, french toast, smoothie bowls, and lots of other delicious treats that are all suitable for vegans.

They really outdo themselves when it comes to dairy-free cakes and desserts, so if you have a sweet tooth then you definitely need to pop in, as a quick scroll through their Instagram is enough to make your mouth water.

True Story – York

You’ll find True Story in York, and their food is all vegan, home-made, and often also organic. They even put on yoga classes several times a week, so you can really get in touch with your body as well as nourishing it.

You’ll find sharing boards, green smoothies, avo on toast, and plenty of delicious salads, soups, cakes and scones on their delicious and varied menu.

Whether you’re popping in for breakfast, or enjoying your lunch while looking out onto York Minster, you’ll have plenty of yummy vegan options to choose from.

The Wish Cat Cafe – Bridlington

This cafe is not 100% vegan, but they do offer a really nice range of vegan options alongside their other menu offerings, making it a great option for anyone visiting the area. The cafe has a really unique quaint vibe, and it’s a nice cosy spot to stop for lunch.

Vegans can enjoy dishes like posh sausage with a spicy chorizo flavour, vegan breakfasts, a carrot and quinoa bake, and even things like vegan shepherd’s pie have been featured on the menu before.

It isn’t just vegans they cater to either, they also have gluten-free offerings, so everybody can eat together, and everyone can have a slice of cake.

We hope this has given you a little bit of an insight into some of the fabulous places you can eat out in Yorkshire if you are vegan. Do be sure to check our availability if you want to plan a break in the area soon!
