We’re All Going On A Summer Holiday!
29 November 2013
The great British holiday has well and truly made a comeback. Budget camping and caravanning holidays have become more popular than ever and they’re also the perfect excuse for families to spend some quality time together.
According to the Office for National Statistics’ ‘Rise of the Staycation’ report, during the period of the financial crisis in 2008/2009 there is evidence to suggest that UK residents changed their travel behaviour and elected to take vacations within the UK rather than abroad.
With Britain receiving a record average of 588 hours of sunshine in 2013, it’s no wonder people are opting to stay in the country for their summer holidays.
In 2013 65% of Brits chose to holiday on our own shores. Thirty-three percent of people stated that it is cheaper to holiday in the UK than abroad and have found it is better value for money. More than a third of Brits (35%) believe it is important to holiday here in the UK in order to preserve our heritage and support our tourism industry.
