Memories Are Made Of This

24 January 2014

Holidays and long weekends away from home are a great way to unwind, spend time with loved ones and recharge the batteries.

They also offer fabulous opportunities to learn new things, do activities you might not have done for years, have some fun and make some new memories.

Here are some of the best activities available at our properties:

Health & well-being

Taking time out for yourself is vital in this busy age when we’re constantly being bombarded with requests and having numerous demands made on our time.

Several of the Pure Leisure parks are fully equipped to help you soak away your worries in tranquil surroundings while also having the tensions massaged from your tired muscles.

South Lakeland Leisure Village has a Health & Fitness Club featuring a large, 15 metre indoor pool, a fully-equipped and air conditioned gym, fitness suites and its very own Pure Essence beauty therapy suites, which offer a range of therapies and treatments.

World boxing champion Joe Calzaghe helped to officially open our new £2million leisure complex at Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club near Wisbech in spring 2013.

This particular facility features a heated indoor pool with a coco jet machine (controlling the water current), steam room and sauna, as well as a fully air-conditioned fitness suite.

Walking

Tydd St Giles Golf & Leisure Estate, Hall Moor Caravan Park, Fell End Caravan Park and South Lakeland Leisure Village are wildlife havens and have all been presented with the Gold David Bellamy award for nature. If you are an amateur twitcher there are lots of birds to spot too.

Tydd St Giles Golf & Leisure Estate is a Mecca for bird watchers and those who enjoy nature. In the spring and summer its trails are filled with wild flowers and busy insects.

Hall More Caravan Park is the perfect location for exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Morecambe Bay on foot. It is well-known for its walks and wildlife.

Meanwhile, Fell End Caravan Park offers fell-walking opportunities for the more adventurous.

Horse riding

Tydd St Giles Golf & Leisure Estate is also a wonderful place to take time out for a spot of horse riding. The estate spans more than 150 acres of Cambridgeshire’s finest Fenland so is perfect for all levels of rider whether you prefer an amble or a hack.

Playing golf

If you fancy playing a round, then Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club is the park to visit. It first opened as a nine-hole golf course in 1995 and became a holiday venue in 2009.

The Country Club now includes an exclusive community of luxury holiday homes and lodges situated around an 18-hole golf course and lake.

Fishing

Both Fell End and Hall More Caravan Park’s are situated within close proximity to a trout lake, Hall More Caravan Park has the added extra of a fly fishery on site.

Billing Aquadrome, often described as the coarse fishers’ paradise comprises of three lakes and further waterways throughout the park which visitors can choose to fish from.

But perhaps the best park for fishing in the group is Borwick Lakes in the South Lakes which consists of four lakes holding an excellent head of mixed coarse fish. A selection of pegs are available around the lakes offering secluded, peaceful bases away from interruptions and noise pollution.

The fishery is open from dawn until dusk each day and offers stocks of specimen carp (30lbs+), chub, tench, roach, silver fish, crucian, perch, bream, skimmers and more.
